Bluetooth SIG establishes Japanese subsidiary in Tokyo

Bluetooth Special Interest Group (Bluetooth SIG) has announced the establishment of a Japanese subsidiary, Bluetooth SIG Japan GK, based in Tokyo. This move is intended to strengthen the organization's engagement with member companies in Japan and the Asia-Pacific region.

Alongside the new subsidiary, the organization has launched the Bluetooth Japan Member Group (Bluetooth JMG). This community aims to promote collaboration, education, and market development within the Japanese market. The JMG will serve as a platform for Japanese members to share technical expertise and market perspectives with the global Bluetooth community.

Japan represents one of Bluetooth SIG’s largest markets, ranking third globally in both membership—with over 2,900 companies—and in the number of Bluetooth product certifications. Major Japanese corporations, including Sony and Panasonic, have expressed support for the expanded local presence.

Future initiatives include special sessions at CEATEC 2026 and the hosting of the Bluetooth Japan Summit 2026 in October 2026, which will feature the inaugural kickoff meeting for the Bluetooth JMG.
