Blufi Mayor warns of critical staffing shortages in Sicilian municipalities

During a conference at Palazzo dei Normanni regarding the future of local government personnel in Sicily, Calogero Puleo, the mayor of Blufi, highlighted critical staffing shortages affecting small municipalities.

Puleo noted that Blufi’s workforce has decreased from 25 to 12 units over time. He emphasized that despite political intentions to move toward full-time employment, many employees currently work part-time, with only one staff member working 36 hours per week. The mayor argued that staffing shortages directly impact essential services for citizens and that local administrations with balanced budgets should not be subject to the same austerity measures as those in financial distress.
