BluGlass secures R&D funding and enters photonics collaboration

Australian semiconductor developer BluGlass Limited has entered into a $200,000 early-stage collaboration with Coherent Corp to co-develop gallium nitride (GaN)-based devices. The three-to-five-month feasibility study will evaluate the compatibility of proprietary processes to create high-performance visible wavelength lasers for scientific and medical applications.

Separately, BluGlass has secured a new A$8.0 million research and development funding facility through Rockford RDF Pty Ltd. This facility replaces a previous A$2.27 million arrangement and provides approximately A$5.5 million in additional liquidity. The funding is primarily secured against anticipated R&D Tax Incentive refunds for fiscal years 2026 and 2027. The capital is intended to support working requirements and growth initiatives, including scaling production for markets such as quantum sensing, defense, and advanced manufacturing.
