Blumenau City Council approves rental aid for domestic violence victims
The Blumenau City Council has approved, in a second vote, a project authorizing the municipal government to provide rental assistance to women who are victims of domestic violence and are unable to return to their homes.
To qualify for the benefit, women must have a family income of up to two minimum wages, be in a situation of social vulnerability, and hold an urgent protective measure granted under the Maria da Penha Law. Priority will be given to those with two or more minor children. The assistance will be suspended if the recipient returns to living with the aggressor or if the protective measure expires. The project now awaits a final wording vote before proceeding to the mayor for sanction.
