Blumenau construction worker injured in crane collapse
A construction worker was injured on Friday afternoon after a crane fell into an elevator shaft at a building site in downtown Blumenau, Brazil. The incident occurred on Rua Sete de Setembro while the equipment was being repositioned.
The 37-year-old technician was working on the fourth floor and was attached to the crane via safety equipment. When the structure failed and fell through the shaft to the ground floor, the worker was pulled down with it.
Emergency responders from the Blumenau Military Fire Department found the man conscious and lucid despite a head injury, suspected leg fractures, and lumbar pain. Officials noted that the use of safety equipment likely prevented a fatal outcome. The victim was transported to Hospital Santa Isabel for treatment.
