Blumenau opens historical exhibition on traditional festivals

The José Ferreira da Silva Historical Archive in Blumenau has opened the “Blumenau em Festa” exhibition, which showcases photographs, documents, and objects documenting the city's traditional celebrations. The exhibition aims to connect the community with preserved historical records and illustrate how local traditions and social gatherings have evolved over more than 150 years.

Featured events in the collection include the Oktoberfest Blumenau, established in 1984, and the Brazilian Beer Festival, which traces its roots back to 1967. The display also covers Festitália, which celebrates Italian culture, and Sommerfest. The exhibition traces the history of social interaction from mid-19th-century gatherings in local bars, breweries, and clubs to the large-scale modern festivals held today.

The exhibition is free to the public and remains open until January 29, 2027. Visiting hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 to 12:00 and 13:30 to 16:30.
