Blumenau police arrest suspected mastermind behind homicide

Police in Blumenau arrested a 32-year-old man suspected of being the intellectual author behind the murder of Edson Alves Vieira, known as ‘Fio’. The homicide occurred on February 8, 2026, in the Morro da Dona Edith neighborhood.

Investigations suggest the victim was subjected to a ‘crime tribunal’ by a criminal organization before being lured into an ambush and killed with various white weapons. The suspect, identified as a leader within the criminal group, had a preventive arrest warrant issued on July 8. The operation, conducted by the Homicide Delegation, also included search and seizure warrants at three residences to gather further evidence regarding the murder and the group's activities.
