Blumenau school armed student report found to be a hoax

Police in Blumenau responded to a report of an armed student at the Leoberto Leal Municipal Basic School in the Salto Norte neighborhood. The report suggested a student was carrying a firearm and prepared to attack students and staff, causing panic among parents and guardians gathered at the scene.

Upon investigation, the Military Police determined the report was a hoax. Under Brazilian law, making false reports to emergency services can be classified as various crimes, including false communication of a crime or causing unnecessary alarm.
