Blumenau water supply may be affected by maintenance in 24 neighborhoods

Residents in 24 neighborhoods of Blumenau should prepare for potential water supply disruptions or reductions on Sunday, August 16. The Samae utility provider will conduct preventive maintenance on the electrical substation of Water Treatment Plant 2 (ETA 2) in the Do Salto neighborhood.

The maintenance is scheduled to begin at 5:00 AM and is expected to require a total shutdown of the station for up to seven hours. Affected areas include Do Salto, Escola Agrícola, Vila Nova, Itoupava Seca, Victor Konder, Boa Vista, Centro, Nova Esperança, Itoupava Norte, Fortaleza, Tribess, Fortaleza Alta, Fidélis, Itoupava Central, Itoupavazinha, Testo Salto, Salto do Norte, Badenfurt, Salto Weissbach, Passo Manso, Água Verde, Velha, Velha Central, and Velha Grande.

To mitigate the impact, Samae will deploy water trucks to supply reservoirs, particularly in distant areas. While supply is expected to normalize during the day, residents are advised to conserve water. Authorities also warned that water may appear turbid during the resumption of service; in such cases, it should not be used for drinking or food preparation until it runs clear.
