B&M launches recruitment drive for first Head of Data and AI
UK discount retailer B&M has launched a major recruitment drive to integrate data and artificial intelligence into its core operations. The company is seeking its first Head of Data & AI, a role that will report to Group IT Director Suzie Williams. This position is tasked with shaping the company’s data strategy, building necessary infrastructure, and delivering AI-driven decision-making capabilities.
In addition to the new data leadership, B&M is recruiting an AI transformation and adoption lead and a solutions architect. These moves are part of a broader ‘Back to B&M Basics’ strategy led by CEO Tjeerd Jegen, which aims to improve stock availability, simplify product ranges, and stabilize pricing following the impact of the cost-of-living crisis.
Parallel to these digital initiatives, B&M is completing a full-scale deployment of a new Point of Sale (PoS) solution across its entire estate. Partnering with PMC and Flooid, the retailer is replacing legacy hardware and software to increase transaction speeds and reduce friction at checkout.
