BMC schools launch new books on constitutional values and civic duties
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has launched two new Marathi books, ‘Smart Nagrik’ and ‘Vidyarthi Prerna’, designed to teach civic duties and constitutional values to students in BMC schools.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and former Supreme Court Justice Bhushan Gavai unveiled the books at Mumbai Public School in Dadar West. The initiative aims to supplement academic learning with lessons on democratic values, social responsibilities, and moral character. ‘Smart Nagrik’ focuses on civics and the principles of the Indian Constitution, while ‘Vidyarthi Prerna’ is based on the inspirational life of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
During the event, Fadnavis and Gavai interacted directly with sixth-grade students, explaining key lessons from the books and encouraging them to face life's challenges with courage. Justice Gavai noted that the values of liberty, equality, and fraternity have kept the nation united for over seven decades.
