BMRCL receives Railway Board sanction for Pink Line trainsets

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has received sanction from the Railway Board for new BEML trainsets intended for the elevated section of the Namma Metro Pink Line. This approval is a necessary prerequisite for the commissioning of the corridor and will be included in the documentation submitted to the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) for formal inspection.

The first phase of the Pink Line consists of a 7.5-km elevated stretch featuring six stations, including Kalena Agrahara, IIM-B, and JP Nagar, with an interchange available at Jayadeva Hospital. While the Railway Board sanction is a significant regulatory step, it does not authorize passenger operations. Commercial services remain subject to mandatory CMRS inspection and authorization.

BMRCL officials indicated that CMRS inspection and authorization are expected in the first week of October, with passenger services potentially commencing in the second or third week of the month. Additionally, the line has recently received the Independent Safety Assessor (ISA) certificate for its signalling systems.
