BMS and BGSMath hold joint Junior Meeting in Barcelona
The fifth BMS-BGSMath Junior Meeting took place from September 2 to 4, 2026, at the Centre de Recerca Matemàtica in Barcelona. The event was a joint initiative between the Berlin Mathematical School (BMS) and the Barcelona Graduate School of Mathematics (BGSMath), continuing a scientific exchange partnership established by a memorandum of understanding in 2016.
The meeting brought together 75 participants, including 44 delegates from Berlin, to foster research links and mobility among doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers. The scientific program featured three plenary lectures covering diverse mathematical fields:
• Gissell Estrada discussed mathematical and computational methods for estimating parameters in cell-cell adhesion models. • Christoph von Tycowicz presented developments in geometric learning and statistical inference on manifolds. • Guillem Blanco introduced the complex zeta function of a singularity and its connection to singularity theory.
In addition to plenary talks and parallel research sessions, the meeting included social activities designed to strengthen the multicultural research environment between the two cities.
