BMT partners with Seabed 2030 for ocean floor mapping

Maritime consultancy BMT has partnered with the Nippon Foundation-GEBCO Seabed 2030 Project to support global efforts in mapping the ocean floor. The collaboration aims to accelerate the creation of a complete map of the world’s seabed, with data being compiled into the freely available GEBCO Ocean Map.

BMT will contribute expertise in maritime data collection, environmental science, and digital systems to the initiative. The company intends to utilize its maritime design, asset monitoring, and digital capabilities, including the BMT DEEP platform and the Deep Blue Project, to support the mission. This partnership aligns with BMT’s expansion across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, focusing on providing better seabed information to assist governments and marine operators in making informed decisions regarding infrastructure, planning, and sustainable maritime operations.
