BMW adds all‑wheel‑drive to M2 for US and Swiss markets

BMW introduced the 2027 M2 xDrive, an all‑wheel‑drive version of its M2 coupe, after strong demand from customers in the northern United States and Switzerland, where winter conditions and use of all‑season tires make rear‑wheel‑drive less practical.

The new model retains the 3.0‑liter twin‑turbo S58 inline‑six producing 473 hp and 443 lb‑ft, meets Euro 7 emissions with M‑Ignite pre‑chamber ignition, and is offered only with an eight‑speed automatic. It accelerates to 100 km/h in about 3.6 seconds, slightly quicker than the rear‑wheel‑drive version’s 3.9 seconds. BMW will continue to sell a traditional RWD M2 with a manual gearbox.

The M2 xDrive uses the same xDrive system as the M3, M4 and M5, adding front‑axle differentials and a front differential, providing extra grip for snowy or icy roads while keeping the original M2 available for purists.
