BMW and Mercedes-AMG advance high-performance electric vehicle development

BMW and Mercedes-AMG are advancing their high-performance electric vehicle lineups. A prototype of the upcoming BMW iX5 M has been spotted undergoing performance and durability testing at the Nürburgring. The iX5 M is expected to feature a four-motor system capable of producing over 1,000 ps, utilizing BMW’s ‘Heart of Joy’ integrated control technology to manage torque distribution across all four wheels.

Simultaneously, Mercedes-AMG is developing an electric C-Class model to compete in the high-performance EV segment. Spy photos of the prototype reveal aggressive bodywork, an active rear spoiler for improved downforce, and oversized brake discs designed to handle the increased weight typical of electric vehicles. While specific motor configurations for the AMG model remain unconfirmed, the vehicle features aerodynamic enhancements such as flush-mounted door handles and a redesigned silhouette compared to current internal combustion models.
