BMW Art Car exhibition concludes in Munich with 120,000 visitors

The BMW Art Car World Tour concluded its 50th-anniversary celebrations with a special exhibition at BMW Welt in Munich, which drew over 120,000 visitors before closing on August 31. For the first time, all 20 vehicles in the collection were reunited under one roof, showcasing five decades of automotive art.

The collection features works by renowned artists including Alexander Calder, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, David Hockney, and Julie Mehretu. The exhibition served as the finale to a global tour that visited 60 locations across more than 30 countries and five continents, reaching an estimated 2 million people.

Following the exhibition, BMW plans to maintain the collection's presence through digital archives and museum appearances. Additionally, the company will integrate the art into its technology, allowing owners of new models equipped with the BMW Panoramic iDrive to display five of the Art Cars as digital widgets on their windshield projections.
