BMW Australia recalls over 10,000 vehicles due to fire risk
BMW Australia has issued a recall for 10,559 vehicles from its 2 Series, 3 Series, 4 Series, 5 Series, X3, X4 and Z4 model lines, built between 2020 and 2025. The recall targets a defective starter‑motor solenoid switch that can wear excessively, cause an internal short circuit and potentially overheat, creating a risk of fire or engine failure. BMW advises owners not to leave the engine running unattended, to avoid using the remote‑engine‑start function, and to arrange a free replacement of the starter motor at an authorised dealer. A hotline (1800 243 675) is provided for affected owners and a VIN list is available online.
