BMW cancels Paris Motor Show appearance amid cost-cutting

BMW has canceled its participation in the upcoming Paris Motor Show, a move attributed to intensified cost-cutting measures following a profit warning issued in June. The company previously confirmed its presence in January but retracted the decision as it implements efficiency programs to address declining operating margins.

BMW’s revised 2026 forecast projects an operating margin of only 1% to 3%, down from the previous target of 4% to 6%. The manufacturer cited a slump in the Chinese automotive market and the economic impacts of the Middle East conflict as primary drivers for the reduced outlook.

Beyond financial restructuring, the company is facing scrutiny regarding a withdrawn leasing offer for a vehicle intended for a politician from the AfD party.
