BMW expands M2 lineup with limited Japan edition and M xDrive
BMW is introducing several updates to its M2 lineup, including a highly exclusive model for Japan and a new drivetrain technology for the broader M2 range.
In Japan, BMW is launching the M2 CS Edition EDGE, a limited production run of only 40 units. This model features a 3.0-liter biturbo inline six-cylinder engine producing 530 hp and 650 Nm of torque. Priced at approximately 16,630,000 yen (€91,000), the edition includes M Performance parts, a weight reduction of about 30 kg compared to the standard M2, and specialized chassis tuning for track performance.
Additionally, the BMW M2 is incorporating the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system for the first time. The system is designed to maintain the car's rear-wheel-drive character by prioritizing the rear axle and only engaging the front wheels when necessary. The M2 xDrive also includes a 2WD mode for purists. This version utilizes BMW M Ignite technology to enhance efficiency and comply with upcoming Euro 7 emissions standards, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.7 seconds.
