BMW files design patent for Vision CE self-balancing electric scooter
BMW Motorrad has filed a design patent in India for the Vision CE, a self-balancing electric scooter concept. Originally unveiled at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, the vehicle features a self-balancing system designed to keep the scooter upright even when stationary.
A key feature of the Vision CE is its integrated safety structure, which includes a tubular steel cage and a four-point seatbelt. This design aims to provide urban mobility that could potentially allow riders to travel without a helmet or traditional protective clothing. The concept draws inspiration from the BMW C1 model released 25 years ago.
While the patent filing suggests BMW is evaluating India as a potential market, a formal production timeline has not been announced. Technical specifications for the emission-free electric drive remain undisclosed. Industry speculation points toward a possible announcement at EICMA 2026 in Milan.
