Aumovio BMW Group €350 million settlement €1 billion contract MK C2 brake system

Aumovio, the former Continental automotive unit, agreed to pay the BMW Group €350 million to settle all pending lawsuits over an integrated brake system that triggered a 2024 recall of roughly 1.5 million vehicles. In return, the companies signed a long‑term supply and development contract valued at more than €1 billion.

The agreement covers the MK C2 one‑box brake system, brake calipers and electronic control solutions for future vehicle platforms, with serial production of the MK C2 scheduled to run until the mid‑2030s. The settlement will be recorded as a special item in Aumovio’s 2026 financial results. CEO Philipp von Hirschheydt said the deal strengthens the partnership and supports the transition to highly automated driving.
