BMW introduces Neue Klasse vision and advanced safety features
BMW is introducing its Neue Klasse vision, a new generation of vehicles focused on digitalization, sustainability, and advanced technology. This shift represents an evolution in the brand's approach to mobility, integrating new technological architectures and driving experiences.
A key component of this rollout is the expansion of active safety systems as standard equipment. One notable feature is an active exit warning system designed to prevent “dooring” accidents—where a vehicle door is opened into the path of approaching cyclists or vehicles. Using side radars, the system monitors surrounding traffic and can electronically delay door opening if a collision risk is detected.
The BMW iX3 is the first production model to incorporate these technologies, with future models including the BMW i3, X5, and 7 Series expected to follow. The Neue Klasse strategy aims to create a “smart, symbiotic, and safe” environment where assistance systems act as intelligent, discreet companions to the driver.
