BMW launches long-wheelbase iX3 electric SUV for China
BMW is launching a specialized version of its iX3 electric SUV specifically for the Chinese market, known as the iX3 L. Built on the new Neue Klasse platform and produced locally by BMW Brilliance Automotive, the model features a long wheelbase that is approximately 11 cm longer than the European version to provide increased legroom for rear passengers.
The vehicle aims to cater to Chinese consumers who often prioritize rear-seat comfort. Key specifications include a 108.7 kWh battery, which offers a claimed range of up to 919 km under the Chinese CLTC cycle. The model also integrates advanced technology, including end-to-end automated driving developed with Momenta and an infotainment system utilizing AI models from Alibaba and DeepSeek.
Pre-sales for the iX3 began during the Chengdu Auto Show, with prices ranging between 269,900 and 339,900 yuan. Despite the lack of physical availability at many dealerships until late October, the model has already seen tens of thousands of preliminary orders.
