BMW Korea surpasses 10,000 electrified vehicle sales
BMW Korea has surpassed 10,000 electrified vehicle sales between January and September this year, marking a significant milestone for a premium import brand. Electrified models, including battery electric vehicles (BEV) and plug-in hybrids (PHEV), now account for approximately 18% of the company's total domestic sales.
To support this growth, BMW Korea is aggressively expanding its technical and physical infrastructure. The company currently employs 480 high-voltage technicians and plans to increase this number to 650 by 2028. It operates 83 official service centers, 42 of which are equipped to handle high-difficulty tasks such as high-voltage battery repairs and accident recovery.
Regarding charging infrastructure, the company has deployed 3,334 chargers nationwide and aims to reach 4,000 by the end of the year. Additionally, BMW Korea is participating in a pilot project with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to detect battery abnormalities and report potential fires, making it the only imported car company involved in such an initiative. The company also provides safety and rescue training for firefighters to improve emergency response to electric vehicle incidents.
