BMW launches high‑performance electric M3 and xDrive M2 models

BMW's upcoming electric M3 will begin production next year as a single model equipped with four electric motors – 480 kW on the front axle and 560 kW on the rear – delivering more than 1,000 kW (1,300 hp) and up to 1,020 Nm of torque. It will use a battery of over 100 kWh built on an 800‑volt architecture, with the pack forming part of the vehicle’s structure for added rigidity. The car features the new M Dynamic Performance Control system, a high‑capacity battery developed for M‑series performance, and sustainable interior materials such as natural‑fiber trims and Merino‑leather sport seats.

BMW also disclosed the price of the new M2 equipped with the M xDrive all‑wheel‑drive system for the Spanish market. Production is slated to start in August at the company's Mexican plant, which will supply Europe, China and Germany. The M2 xDrive will be offered from €101,500, about €3,000 more than the rear‑wheel‑only version. It is powered by a six‑cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine producing 353 kW (480 hp) with a variable torque split between the axles, and it meets WLTP fuel‑consumption figures of 10.3‑10.4 L/100 km and CO₂ emissions of 233‑235 g/km.
