BMW launches M2 Coupé with M xDrive all‑wheel‑drive system

BMW has introduced a new M2 Coupé equipped with M xDrive, the brand’s first all‑wheel‑drive system for the M2 line. The model retains the 3.0‑litre inline‑six twin‑power turbo engine delivering 480 hp (353 kW) and 600 Nm of torque, paired with an eight‑speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic. BMW states the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 250 km/h, extendable to 285 km/h with the optional M Driver’s Package. Key technical features include an active M differential, M‑specific traction control, Dynamic Stability Control, and a driver‑configurable M Setup menu that offers a 2WD mode for traditional rear‑bias. The vehicle also incorporates M Ignite pre‑chamber ignition technology to meet upcoming EU7 emissions standards. Production is scheduled to start in August 2026 at BMW’s San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico, with the first customer deliveries expected later that year, including the Australian market. Standard equipment comprises M Compound brakes, 19‑inch front and 20‑inch rear alloy wheels, and optional track‑focused tyres. A special Borusan Turkish Blue paint option is also available.
