BMW launches M2 Racing and M135 xDrive performance cars
BMW introduced two new high‑performance models aimed at enthusiasts. The M2 Racing, unveiled for the 2025 model year, is a customer‑racing two‑seat sports car built on the M2 platform. It features a 2.0‑litre inline‑four turbo engine delivering 313 hp and 420 Nm of torque, rear‑wheel drive, an 8‑speed automatic gearbox, FIA‑compliant safety equipment and a price of ¥21 million. Journalist Nishikawa Shogo tested the car at Fuji Speedway, noting its comfortable cabin, stable handling and a lap time of 1:59.0.
The M135 xDrive, presented in Japan on 30 October 2024, is the top‑of‑the‑range 1 Series hatch. It packs a 2.0‑litre inline‑four turbo engine producing 300 ps, all‑wheel drive (xDrive), a 7‑speed dual‑clutch transmission, adaptive M suspension and a hands‑off traffic‑jam assist system. It is priced at ¥7.29 million. Both models emphasize driver‑focused dynamics while offering road‑legal usability.
