BMW unveils new iX3 SUV in Japan and long‑wheelbase i3 sedan for China

BMW displayed the next‑generation iX3 (50 xDrive) at a preview event in Tokyo’s Aoyama Hills. The electric SUV delivers 469 hp, 0‑100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, a WLTP range of up to 805 km and supports 320 kW rapid charging. Its interior uses recycled PET bottles and other sustainable materials. BMW plans to obtain Japanese type‑approval by June 2026 and move toward series production.

At the 2026 Beijing Motor Show, BMW introduced a new i3 sedan specifically for the Chinese market. The model features a long‑wheelbase version exceeding 3,000 mm, surpassing the wheelbase of the Toyota Crown, and offers a CLTC range of more than 1,000 km. Fast‑charging can add roughly 400 km of range in ten minutes. Built on the Neue Klasse platform, the i3 sedan reflects BMW’s latest design language and targets premium buyers seeking spacious rear‑seat comfort.
