Philipp Eng and BMW M Motorsport to part ways after 11 years

BMW M Motorsport has announced that Austrian racing driver Philipp Eng will depart the manufacturer's works roster at the conclusion of the 2026 season. The 36-year-old and the Bavarian brand have mutually agreed not to extend his contract, ending an eleven-year partnership that began in 2016.

During his tenure, Eng established himself as a premier endurance racer, securing multiple victories at the 24 Hours of Spa (2016, 2018, and 2023) and the 24 Hours of Daytona (2019). He also competed in the DTM between 2018 and 2022, earning one win and five podiums. More recently, Eng served as a key driver for BMW’s GTP program in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, contributing to the development of the BMW M Hybrid V8.

Andreas Roos, head of BMW Motorsport, praised Eng for his significant contributions to the brand’s success in GT and prototype racing. While Eng’s future racing commitments remain unconfirmed, he expressed gratitude for his time with the team. BMW is expected to consider internal talents such as Dan Harper and Max Hesse as potential successors.
