BMW M unveils electric Concept Neue Klasse at Le Mans

BMW M presented the Concept Neue Klasse prototype during the 24‑Hour Le Mans endurance race, signalling the division’s shift toward fully electric high‑performance models. The vehicle combines BMW M’s traditional sporty design—aggressive proportions, wide wheels and a distinctive front “shark‑nose”—with new aerodynamic elements such as trimaran‑style front bumper, duck‑tail rear and integrated Track Lights.

The concept is powered by BMW M eDrive, featuring four electric motors, an 800 V architecture and a high‑voltage battery rated above 100 kWh, promising long range and rapid charging. Control software called “Heart of Joy” and Dynamic Performance Control manage independent wheel torque and braking for precise handling. Oliver Heilmer, head of design for the Neue Klasse generation, described the project as “born on the racetrack, built for the road.”

Inside, the cabin adopts driver‑centred ergonomics with four new bucket seats and a mix of Bathurst Blue and Berry Red accents. Materials such as natural‑fiber composites are used for body panels and structural components, underscoring BMW’s commitment to sustainability while retaining the brand’s performance heritage.
