BMW advances electric vehicle strategy with Neue Klasse iX3 and M3 Concept

BMW is advancing its electric vehicle strategy through several key product developments. At the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show, the company opened pre-sales for the Neue Klasse iX3, a long-wheelbase electric SUV designed specifically for the Chinese market. The iX3 lineup includes several variants, such as the 30L, 40L, and 50L, featuring advanced 800V architecture and high-tech integration with Alibaba AI and Momenta for intelligent driving. One test of the iX3 50L demonstrated a range of over 1,030 kilometers on a single charge, exceeding its official CLTC rating.

In the performance sector, BMW is preparing for the transition of its M Division to electric power. The M3 Concept, based on the Neue Klasse platform, was showcased at Monterey Car Week, previewing a future high-performance electric M3 expected to deliver approximately 700 CV. Additionally, the BMW M2 lineup continues to evolve, with rumors suggesting a potential M2 CS version featuring a manual transmission to satisfy enthusiasts. In Argentina, the high-performance M2 CS has officially arrived, offering 530 CV and a top speed of 302 km/h.
