BMW M2 with Performance Track Package sets new Nürburgring lap record
On 22 May, a BMW M2 equipped with the M Performance Track Package completed a 7:25.068 lap around the Nürburgring Nordschleife, shaving 0.5 seconds off the previous M2 CS record of 7:25.534. The achievement was announced by BMW on 6 July and highlights the car’s upgraded aerodynamics, adjustable front splitter, rear wing, and a coil‑over suspension system that is road‑legal yet tuned for circuit performance.
The package was developed by Jörg Weidinger, BMW M’s chassis‑development engineer and record‑holder, together with the division’s motorsport specialists. As product manager Jonas Krauss said, “With the brand‑new M Performance Track Package we give racing‑enthusiasts uncompromising performance, a system designed specifically for the BMW M2.” The record underscores BMW M’s focus on translating motorsport technology into customer‑available upgrades.
