BMW M5 prototype undergoes high-performance testing at Nürburgring

BMW is currently testing a facelifted version of the M5 sedan at the Nürburgring. Spy footage from the track shows the prototype undergoing high-performance testing, with brake discs visibly glowing from the intense heat generated during heavy track use.

The upcoming Life Cycle Impulse (LCI) update for the M5 is expected to retain its plug-in hybrid V8 powertrain while introducing several aesthetic and technological refinements. While early prototypes suggested a radical design influenced by the Neue Klasse lineup, recent sightings indicate a more conservative evolutionary approach. This includes revised headlights, fresh taillight graphics, and updated bumpers and trim.

Interior upgrades are also anticipated, including a significant dashboard overhaul and the introduction of the new BMW Panoramic iDrive system. The M5 Touring model is also expected to receive similar LCI treatments in 2027.
