BMW Motorrad celebrates 150,000 motorcycles produced at Brazil's Manaus plant in 10 years
BMW Motorrad marked the production of its 150,000th motorcycle at the Manaus factory, coinciding with the plant’s 10‑year anniversary. The Manaus unit, opened in 2016, is the only BMW two‑wheel assembly plant outside Germany and operates on 100 % renewable energy. It currently assembles 13 models, supplying 99 % of the brand’s range sold in Brazil, with an installed capacity of up to 17,000 bikes per year.
The milestone bike was a BMW R 1300 GS Adventure Triple Black, featuring the brand’s most powerful series‑produced boxer engine (145 hp, 15.2 kgfm torque) and advanced electronic suspension. Plant director Alex Donatti said the achievement demonstrates the operational, technological and human maturity of the Brazilian team and underscores BMW’s long‑term commitment to the local market.
