BMW Motorrad introduces third-generation M Motorsport frame
BMW Motorrad has announced the introduction of its third-generation M Motorsport frame for the BMW M 1000 RR, starting from the 2027 model year. The new aluminum structure is approximately 1.3 kg lighter than its predecessor, achieved by reducing wall thicknesses by up to 30 percent.
The redesign aims to optimize the balance between rigidity and flexibility to improve handling, provide clearer rider feedback, and ensure more consistent tire contact during cornering. The development process utilized a digital chain involving simulations and testing in Munich, low-pressure light-alloy casting in Landshut, and final assembly and quality inspection in Berlin.
This motorsport-derived technology is intended to benefit factory teams, customer racing programs, and series-production riders by enhancing precision in steering and braking forces.
