BMW posts 13% US sales increase in Q2 2026 and unveils high‑performance M2 CS

BMW’s U.S. sales for the second quarter of 2026 rose 13% year‑on‑year to a total of 102,713 vehicles. Growth was led by crossovers and SUVs, with the X5 up 41.6% to 22,874 units and the X6 climbing 72.3% to 3,567 units. Legacy models also performed well: the 3 Series increased 56.8% to 10,542 units, the Z4 roadster doubled its volume to 1,099 units, and the 8 Series grew 8.5% to 1,103 cars. The now‑discontinued X4 recorded the lowest sales at 136 units.

In parallel, BMW introduced the 2026 M2 CS, a limited‑edition sport coupe aimed at driving enthusiasts. The model retains the S58 twin‑turbo 3.0‑liter inline‑six engine but receives upgraded tuning, delivering 523 hp and 479 lb‑ft of torque, 50 hp more than the standard M2. Weight‑saving measures—including a carbon‑fiber roof, carbon‑fiber trunk lid, rear diffuser, and forged wheels—reduce curb weight by 97 lb. The M2 CS accelerates from 0‑60 mph in 3.7 seconds, features an eight‑speed automatic transmission, and showcases extensive carbon‑fiber exterior trim.
