BMW presents electric M3 concept at Le Mans, targeting 2027 launch

BMW's M division unveiled a fully electric version of the iconic M3, dubbed the “M Concept Neue Klasse”, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans event. The prototype is painted in a vivid “Monza Red” and features a four‑motor drivetrain, with a planned production start in 2027. BMW says the electric M3 will sit alongside a traditional‑engine M3, and the concept demonstrates the brand’s new design language for its M performance line.

Design details highlighted include a shark‑nose front end, integrated headlights and grille, wide wheel arches, new “M Yellow Lights” and a three‑part “trimaran” front bumper with aerodynamic splitters. Interior elements such as exclusive door handles and external M Aero mirrors are also showcased. BMW’s design director Oliver Heilmer emphasized that form follows function, aiming for high efficiency and aerodynamics in the upcoming electric model.
