BMW recalls multiple vehicle models in France due to fire risk
BMW has issued a massive vehicle recall in France due to a fire risk caused by a defect in the starter motor. The recall affects numerous models, including the Series 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, as well as the X3, X4, X5, X6, and Z4 models produced between July 31, 2020, and February 26, 2026.
The issue stems from the RSW22 starter motor, which may experience increased abrasion of the magnetic contact. This can lead to the accumulation of deposits within the relay, potentially causing starting failures or short circuits that pose a fire hazard. Owners are advised to check their European type-approval numbers and contact their local dealership.
