BMW to launch electric M3 in 2027
BMW is preparing to launch its first all-electric M3 in 2027, utilizing the Neue Klasse (NK) platform. Recent testing of the ZA0 prototype at the Nürburgring has revealed the vehicle's performance characteristics, including its ability to operate in a pure rear-wheel drive mode by disconnecting the front motors. The electric model is expected to feature four motors and could potentially produce 800 horsepower or more.
Despite the shift toward electrification, BMW plans to continue offering a gasoline-powered M3 in 2028. This version will utilize the updated CLAR architecture and a six-cylinder engine, likely an evolution of the current S58 twin-turbo 3.0-liter unit, possibly supported by mild-hybrid technology. Both the electric and combustion versions will adopt the Neue Klasse design language.
