BMW to unveil eighth-generation 3 Series on September 30

BMW is set to unveil its eighth-generation 3 Series (G50) on September 30, 2026. The new lineup marks a significant shift, introducing an electric variant, the i3, alongside updated internal combustion engine (ICE) models.

The ICE models will utilize an evolved CLAR platform, while the electric i3 will be built on the new Neue Klasse architecture. Despite the different underpinnings, the two versions will share a similar design language, featuring a more horizontal front grille and a digital-centric interior with the BMW Panoramic iDrive system.

A key highlight of the combustion lineup is the M350 xDrive, which replaces the M340i xDrive. This performance model features a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine producing 443 hp and 580 Nm of torque, including a specialized drift mode. The G50 generation will also see the discontinuation of six-cylinder diesel engines.

Separately, BMW has reached a milestone of 2 million delivered fully electric vehicles globally. This achievement coincides with the expansion of its electric fleet, including the launch of the iX3 50 xDrive in markets like Brazil, which features an 800-volt architecture and high-speed charging capabilities.
