BMW to unveil massive new model range and convert Munich plant to all‑electric production by 2027
BMW announced an extensive rollout of new and refreshed models through 2027, spanning its full portfolio of powertrains. The plan includes new electric versions of the i3 and iX3, a redesigned Series 7, fresh X5 and X5 variants, the fully electric iX4, an electric M3, iX7, i3 Touring, and a hydrogen‑fuel‑cell model. Major redesigns are slated for the Series 5 and the X1/iX1 line‑up, alongside a new digital cockpit with a widescreen display.
In parallel, BMW will modernise its historic Munich factory, which has produced the Series 3 since 1975. From 2027 the plant will manufacture only electric vehicles built on the new Neue Klasse platform. The €650 million investment adds 800 robots, AI‑driven quality checks and the iFactory digital production system, aiming to cut production costs by 10 percent and boost overall efficiency.
