BMW unveils Concept 7 Protection armored luxury sedan
BMW Group has unveiled the Concept 7 Protection, a luxury sedan designed to provide enhanced security without compromising on design, comfort, or driving dynamics. Based on the 7 Series flagship, the concept aims to bridge the gap between standard production models and highly specialized armored vehicles, targeting private individuals, corporate clients, and organizations facing increased risks.
The vehicle is designed to meet the new ‘BayB’ protection standard, offering defense against specific handgun rounds, including 9x19mm and .44 Magnum. To maintain a discreet appearance, the protective elements are integrated directly into the body and interior. Key features include thickened ballistic glass, armored doors utilizing steel and fiber-reinforced composites, and a reinforced roof structure beneath the panoramic sunroof.
Technically, the concept utilizes the M760e xDrive plug-in hybrid powertrain, combining a straight-six engine with an electric motor to produce 612 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. The interior features premium materials such as BMW Individual Merino leather and Alcantara, alongside privacy-enhancing tinted windows and electric sunshades. While BMW plans to prioritize launches in certain European markets, specific production timelines and pricing have not yet been announced.
