BMW unveils electric M3 concept at Le Mans

BMW revealed the M Concept Neue Klasse at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, presenting the first clear look at the brand’s upcoming fully electric M3 slated for production around 2027. The concept is based on the new Neue Klasse i3 platform and showcases a design language that blends classic BMW M cues – widened arches, a shark‑nose front, duck‑tail spoiler and the new “M Yellow Lights” – with sustainable natural‑fiber components.

Powertrain details indicate a four‑motor eDrive system, one motor per wheel, managed by the central “Heart of Joy” computer and the M Dynamic Performance Control software. The architecture uses an 800‑volt system and a battery pack of more than 100 kWh, promising rapid charging and a projected output between 700 hp and 1 000 hp with torque vectoring for precise wheel‑by‑wheel control. These specifications aim to retain the driving feel of traditional M3s while delivering the performance and efficiency of a high‑performance electric sedan.

The concept’s interior carries the Neue Klasse theme with a panoramic iDrive display, four bucket seats upholstered in Bathurst Blue and Berry Red leather, five‑point harnesses, and black nubuck trim. While the concept is not a production model, BMW says many of its styling and technology elements – especially the four‑motor drivetrain, high‑voltage battery and lighting signature – will filter into future M‑branded electric vehicles.
