BMW unveils M-Ignite combustion technology and electric M Concept

BMW is advancing its performance division through both internal combustion innovation and electric vehicle development. The company has introduced “M-Ignite” pre-chamber technology designed for the M2, M3, and M4 models. This system utilizes a secondary chamber and a dedicated spark plug to improve combustion efficiency, reduce exhaust gas temperatures, and minimize engine knocking. This technology allows for an increased compression ratio in the revised S58 engine, which is expected to be featured in M3 and M4 models starting in July, followed by the M2 in August.

Simultaneously, BMW is showcasing the M Concept Neue Klasse, a vision for the brand’s all-electric future. Based on Gen6 Neue Klasse technology, the concept features the BMW M eDrive system, utilizing four electric motors and M Dynamic Performance Control. The vehicle is designed to integrate drivetrain and braking systems through a central high-performance computer to optimize high-performance electric driving.
