BNB Chain activates Pasteur hard fork as TAC sidechain halts

BNB Chain has activated the Pasteur hard fork on the BNB Smart Chain (BSC) mainnet. The upgrade aims to bolster security for bridging, staking, and governance while increasing block capacity. The update incorporates three BNB Evolution Proposals (BEPs): BEP-682, which prevents duplicate validator entries during cross-chain verification; BEP-695, which tightens controls over validator key rotation, slashing, and governance; and BEP-675, which optimizes block submission mechanics for builders. The 450-millisecond block time remains unchanged.

Separately, TAC, a Cosmos-based EVM sidechain connected to the TON ecosystem, has halted block production following a supply-related exploit on August 22. While the exploit affected the TAC sidechain and its specific token supply, the TON mainnet remains separate and was not compromised or halted by the incident.
