BNB Chain increases BSC testnet throughput by 88% via BEP-675

BNB Chain has announced an 88% increase in transaction throughput on its BNB Smart Chain (BSC) testnet following the deployment of the BEP-675 upgrade. Testing on the internal QANet environment showed transactions per second (TPS) rising from 1,237 to 2,324 without requiring changes to gas limits or block intervals.

The upgrade introduces a mechanism called SendBidBlock, which allows block builders to submit fully executed blocks directly to validators. This enables validators to bypass the redundant re-execution step previously required to verify transactions. This technical shift reduced critical path validator execution time from approximately 125ms to 15ms, significantly increasing median gas usage per block from 29.49M to 98.99M.

This deployment is part of a broader technical roadmap for the second half of 2026. BNB Chain aims to double its mainnet throughput in the short term, with a long-term goal of achieving a 10x improvement over baseline performance. Other roadmap objectives include enhanced resource isolation and a restructured gas fee system to lower entry costs for Web2 and Web3 companies.
