BND recruits IT specialists at Gamescom via promotional gaming
The German Federal Intelligence Service (BND) is utilizing the Gamescom trade fair in Cologne to recruit new talent, specifically targeting IT specialists and tech-savvy individuals.
At their 100-square-meter booth, the agency is promoting an updated version of its promotional game, ‘BND-Legenden: Operation Blackbox’. The update includes a new level titled ‘Data Extraction’, where players must navigate a hostile environment to secure a stolen data package. The game, which was originally released on Steam in late 2025, requires players to recognize patterns and react quickly to succeed.
In addition to the gaming experience, visitors can demonstrate their coding and hacking abilities through short interactive sequences and engage in direct discussions with BND personnel, including members of the agency's human resources department.
