BNDES allocates funds for Burle Marx and Hip Hop culture preservation

The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) has approved two distinct cultural preservation projects through its Cultural Fund.

One allocation of R$ 10 million is dedicated to the preservation, digitization, and dissemination of the Roberto Burle Marx collection. This project aims to make over 100,000 cultural and landscape items accessible to the public, honoring the legacy of the renowned landscaper responsible for landmarks such as the Copacabana boardwalk.

Additionally, BNDES has approved R$ 6.4 million for the Hip Hop Culture Museum of Rio Grande do Sul, managed by the Hip Hop Culture Association of Esteio (ACHE). Scheduled to run between 2026 and 2030, this initiative focuses on safeguarding Hip Hop as intangible Brazilian cultural heritage. The project includes cataloging technical reserves, producing documentaries, and hosting workshops and international events to recognize urban peripheries as producers of cultural heritage.
