BNDES approves R$ 7.1 billion for Plano Safra and record credit for small businesses

The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) has reported significant credit approvals across two major sectors. For the 2026/27 Plano Safra, the bank approved R$ 7.1 billion in credit within just eight days of operation. This amount includes R$ 5.2 billion for investments in machinery and installations, and R$ 1.9 billion for operating costs. Of the total, R$ 4.2 billion was allocated to family farmers, small and medium-sized rural producers, and cooperatives, spanning approximately 2,000 municipalities.

In a separate report, BNDES announced a record R$ 108.2 billion in credit approved for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MPMEs) during the first half of 2026. This represents a 590% increase compared to the first half of 2022 and a 22% increase over the same period in 2025. BNDES President Aloizio Mercadante stated that these results reflect the bank's priority to support the segment that represents 66.5% of formal jobs in Brazil.
